Microsoft Tricks Windows XP Users

As reported in Cnet news, Microsoft rounded up some Windows XP users, the ones that complains a lot i think. Showed them a new operating system called “Mojave”. A lot of them were actually impressed by it. But the truth is, “Mojave” is just a renamed Vista so then Microsoft can tell us,i told you so, Vista is better.

This is the beauty of marketing, you can tell people only the good stuffs. For me, this is just a marketing ploy for Microsoft to say that Windows Vista is better then Windows XP. From my point of view, these test what was shown here doesnt actually meant that it’s is better then XP. Yes, it’s true that Vista looks nicer then the old XP look, but you can always install some theme upgrades for XP to look better. Also there is no details given what test and setup they are using.

To think logically, they must be using top of the line computers, on default setting without softwares, just for this tests. But to think realistically, most XP users are still using old computers. Like me, i’m still stuck on single core, 1.5g RAM. Upgrading or buying new computers are just a waste of money to me, since XP still works fine and fast too. Just to be able to use vista smoothly and fast, i need to spend money, and i get a good looking OS with the same speed like the old xp. I tried using vista on a new computer i borrowed for 2 mths, nothing special about it. If Vista delivers very fast responses, loads softwares fast, good software/hardware supports, it might have a chance to convert me but sadly, it’s not.

Computers, softwares and hardwares, cost a lot in Malaysia. A decent new computer cost USD500-600 here, but working at Wendy’s or McDonald’s pays USD300 a month. Well this is just my thoughts, different people have different tastes. I like functionality, others like new and pretty stuffs. I dont like to waste money, other spend just to get newly released stuffs.

  1. Yes, I agree. Newer is not necessarily better.

Best to hop onto Vista maybe 1 or 2 years later after they’ve fixed all the kinks in the OS. By that time, if there’s any problems, one can at least google or visit forums to see how to fix them.
