Streamyx Troubleshooting
Some tips to do before you call the Streamyx support in case you got problems with your connection. This is to save your time on the phone as some of the troubleshooting can take up to 30-45 minutes. Do remember, Streamyx actually support only up to your modem. Their troubleshooting steps is just to determine the connection to your computer only.
- restart modem and computer
- check modem and network card whether its working properly
- connect only 1 computer to modem/router
- bypass splitter and try to do a direct connection (to check faulty splitter part)
- use a network cable to connect to modem (to avoid wireless configuration issues)
- bypass router , connect directly to modem (to avoid router configuration issues)
- disable Streamyx auto login if you know and use the manual connection using the dialer/icon (to know the error message so problems can be determined fast)
- check if you can make and receive call on the phone (be sure you paid the bills)
- check if there is any noise in the phone line (if there is, call Telekom instead)
- run antivirus and spyware programs (to check windows can run properly)
- check if there is any problem with your operating system, firewall and other programs.
- turn off any p2p applications
- if you’re having slow connection, try disconnect and connect a few times and test it (some IP address on the network are slow)
- if port resetted by Streamyx support, the time to wait actually is only 15 seconds and not 15 minutes as they say to you.
Normally if we didn’t touch our configuration (router/modem), the problem mostly are from the ISP provider.
But these steps are just to eliminate any unforeseeable things (stuffs do break). And please make sure all your bill are paid to. One time when i used to work there, an angry customer called and asked me in a rude tone why he can’t connect to internet even after he had paid the bill. He kept using rude words and provoking me, makes me feel like going to go and ambush him at his house and throw in my own ‘words’ after work, all his details are already on my screen and his house isn’t that far from mine
Turns out, this idiot customer did pay his internet bills but didn’t pay his phone bills. For sure he can’t connect because his phone line has been cut. So my conclusion, he is not the ‘internet illiterate’ type but just plain stupid ![]()
Hope those tips helps next time before you call them and to avoid any embarrassments.

question why are some ip adress on the network slow? that’s not some, it takes 1000 out of 1001 connects to get a faster ip adress, the connection is usually better during non peak hours, which suggest congestion and streamyx did nothing to improve that, only accepting new customers, making $$ but doing nothing.
yup, i agree with you on that. just look at their fair usage policy, for me it’s not even fair. we subscribe 1,2mb UNLIMITED connection, but they say we can’t use it to the maximum 24/7 as it causes congestion and blames us the customer for congestion issues due to downloads.
blames 20% of downloading people like me for 80 % of the network congestion. they should upgrade their network to anticipate 100% users to use 100% bandwidth at the same time. instead they keep getting new customers to add to more congestion everyday.
