Frequent Disconnection (PPOE)

This is also an interesting issue, frequent disconnection. First of all, if our connection is auto connect, try disable that first. This is to determine either slow connection or frequent disconnection. With auto connection, we couldn’t notice the frequent disconnection, we only notice that websites are loading so slowly or the page can’t be displayed error. This is because our auto connection is trying to re-establish a connection again.

Hardware

  • Direct connection
  • Check phone and LAN cable
  • Check Modem / Router (hardware failure might be causing it)
  • Check telephone line quality
  • Bypass splitter
  • Faulty RJ45 (network cable) or RJ11 (telephone cable)

Software

  • Check Session for Duration of connection (tmnet side)
  • Check View Events in MCM&B (tmnet side)
  • Create Dialer
  • DNS Setting 202.188.0.133 (Primary) 202.188.1.5 (Alternate)
  • Scan system
  • Disable antivirus software
  • Reset the port

Symptoms of Phone line issue are: -

  • No ringing
  • No dial tone
  • Line is busy even when not in use
  • Phone line is noisy
  • Getting a whistling sound

Well that’s it for today.

  1. what is this?? i need a solution to solve this problem.
    frequent disconnection
    2nd light(LAN)blinking non stop
    tele line busy
    disconnects 10-20 second once..

the last time my line was okay wah when i change my house phone.
I changed from a normal phone to a wireless one and when troubles come in, i decided to unplug the wireless and replace with the old telephone. The problem with that wireless phone is that whenever i answer a phone, i get disconnected. Now its frequent disconnection.
Tried calling 100 and no one answered my call

  2. i assume u are using auto login to Streamyx, that’s why ur LAN light kept blinking.
Now for the common problems found on my previous experience, one of it is there is a network issue on the connection. Check with a friend at Streamyx customer service told me that there is maintanance going around the Streamyx system and there will be a lot of outages until August 4th.

Other common problem are the micro splitter failures (the small box) or the phone line issue. If there is 2 or 3 phone sockets in the house, take out all the others out and use only 1 socket to test. Connect the phone cable directly to the modem (bypass the splitter) and then connect to Streamyx. Surf the internet for a while and check if there is still disconnection.
If all is okay, then try to connect the splitter again, preferably a new and working one. After succesfull connection to the internet, pick up the phone. If there is a noise/crackling sound or Streamyx disconnected, call Telekom (the phone company). Test this with all the phone sockets in the house, one by one to be safe.

However i assume all other hardwares are in good working condition eg the modem/router and your computer.

  3. imran: can u teach me how to disable auto connect? I suck in computering.. >.>

  4. imran, i tried removing all other device in splitter, i still disconnect. I tried removing the splitter and connect straight, i still disconnect. Any idea?

How about changing a modem? Please reply soon because a modem isnt cheap.. well its not for me.. And if it work, i will replace it. Or is there another solution before replacing the modem?

  5. if after u’ve bypassed the splitter and made a direct connection to the modem, and still have the disconnection issue, i suggest u to call the 100 number and make a report. few reasons why this could happen:

    1. your phone line in the house might not be performing well(old wires etc) and might need a new wiring.
    2. there is a connection problem from your house to the streamyx exchange. the technician will check after u made a report. sometimes its the port problem, where its needs a replacement.
    3. this is rare, but your modem might be faulty. dont buy a new one, try borrowing a modem from a friend. this is the last option, but i dont recommend it unless you are sure its faulty (dont waste any money). try with other computer just to be safe the problem is not on ur side (eg virus, trojan, malware)

the technician will normally check the connection from their center first. if there is no problem detected, they will call u an arrange an appointment to come to your house to check. in most cases, no 1 and 2 is the cause. another advice when making a report, just say to them what u did according to my post here when they want to do a troubleshooting with u, seriously it will save a lot of time on ur side.

for ur question on disabling auto login, if ur are using a standard TMney issued modem, try check this TMsupport website. get into the control panel and delete the streamyx username and password (in most cases). after that make a dialer for windows HERE.
If ur bought your own modem, then refer to the manual to get into the control panel and disable auto login or delete username/password for streamyx. save and exit.

hope u can solve your problem asap. i know its frustrating when there is problem with the connection.
