E-mail Problem
Email problem can be anything from common to some other weird problem (can’t go into details with that one :-D). Common problem reported by users , can’t access email account, can’t send/receive email either by email clients such as Microsoft Outlook or thru webmail. I’ll go through the troubleshooting steps first.
Software
- Check can surf the Internet
- Verify the User Name and password
- Check Microsoft Outlook settings
- Check the e-mail size
- Check 3rd party software
- Check in Web mail (webmail.tm.net.my or webmail.streamyx.com)
If you can’t send any email thru your email client such as Microsoft Outlook, most probably it’s because of the setting in there. Outbound port for smtp is 25 and incoming port for pop3 is 110. From my experience, don’t use Microsoft Outlook Express because this is the main problem why emails not sent/received. Try to upgrade it to later version such as Microsoft Outlook 2003 or latest as it will solve this (usually). If you need a more specific steps , you can go to tmmsupport.net.my/csr.
Check the e-mail and attachment size because the email has a low (really low) storage of about 4mb or can be upgraded to 10mb (still really low). Try to delete your drafts, sent and trash folders, and if you can try to dete received email folder too.
If you are accessing webmail through Internet Explorer and you can’t get the full webpage to displayed properly (you only see links when you access your email) , that’s because the java didn’t load up. Unfortunately, i also don’t know the workaround. The only recommendation that i can give is to use Mozilla firefox, that should make the page displayed properly like it used to be.
Other than all above, it’s because of TMnut email server. For your info, Malaysia are one of the countries which had been blacklisted because of spam email going out. So as to get listed back, TMnet have made some measures to prevent further blacklisting by changing ports and rerouting emails. What i can say, stupid spammer in our country, don’t know how to cover their tracks properly. You can check the announcement here. .
