Slow Streamyx

For people that missed the previous Streamyx promotion, currently TMnet is promoting a new package, which is the Streamyx Combo promotion. You might have seen it in the newspaper, magazines or tv advertisement. Basically what this promotion is all about is that it incorporates monthly telephone bill and the Streamyx bill into one bill minus some discount. Some quick calculation on an example:

• normal - telephone rm 26 + 1mb Streamyx broadband rm 88 = rm 114
• promotion - telephone + 1mb Streamyx broadband = rm 110 (less rm 4)

It might not seem much on the discount, but what this promotion differs from the previous one is the modem warranty that TMnet gives, which is a LIFETIME warranty as long as you subscribe with them. The past promotions normally gives warranty of 1-3 years on the modem only.

That is good actually given that TMnet now gives the Riger DB102 brand modem (from the Streamyx-In-A-Box), which on my opinion, simply put, that modem brand sucks. I know this from my past experience dealing with faulty modems reports, mostly from the Riger DB102 model, a lot of them died within a couple of years. Best ‘free’ modem brand from TMnet last time was ZTE and Billion brand. Heck , i’ve been using the ZTE modem for nearly 5 years now, switch on nearly 24/7 since the day i got it, and it never gave me any problems whatsoever.

Now back to the promotion, table below shows you more in detail.

With subscription to any Streamyx Combo package, you are entitled to subscribe to any of the Add On.

And some of the term and conditions (the important ones):

• Streamyx Combo shall be applicable for residential application only.

• Streamyx Combo packages shall be for unlimited usage, with modem, and shall be without monthly rental for TM Homeline

• Add On for Voice Plan or Value Added Services or Content & Application is on top of any combo package.
• Minimum subscription period for Streamyx Combo is 12 months.

• Customer is responsible for internal wiring, NIC card and networking.

• For Streamyx In-A-Box:

• Auto account activation shall be seven (7) days from the date of registration for self collection and ten (10) days for courier delivery.
• RM88 installation fee shall be applicable only if installation assistance is required.
• For account activation, SMS to STXACTV <space> Login ID and send to 33535 three (3) days after registration. Each reply message from TM will be charged RM0.30 to customer’s mobile phone postpaid account or deducted from their prepaid balance. Telco SMS charges for each message sent shall be charged separately.
• The mobile number used must match the mobile number written in the registration form. Customer may use another mobile number if a personal one is not available.
• Streamyx In-A-Box courier service charges are RM14 for Peninsular Malaysia and RM25 for Sabah/Sarawak.

• For Streamyx Combo 2.0Mbps and 4.0Mbps package:

• Service available in selected areas only. List of the areas is available at www.streamyx.com
• Service shall be subject to availability and technical testing during installation.

• 1st bill received may include the following fees under the Internet Charges upon Streamyx activation:

• RM75 for activation.
• RM88 for installation (if applicable).
• First & second months advanced subscription fee.
• RM10 for stamp duty fee
