Defeating TMnut Throttling Bittorrent (Bitcomet 0.64)
As a lot of you guys know, one of the ways to downloads stuffs off the internet is thru bittorrent (if you dont know, try google it). Bit torrent provide one of the fastest downloads (depending on how many people has the file), but over these past few years it has become a nuisance to ISP providers around the world. These ISP said that bittorents eats up the bandwidth , and affect other users. They don’t want to admit that they have to upgrade their network, but blames the users on slow connection issue, especially TMnet.
As Streamyx users know, those TMnutters have made some measures regarding this, by throttling any bittorent connection. Mostly they block bittorent users from connecting to international tracker servers which resulted in speed up to 10 kbps only in the evenings. The only time that i notice speeds is normal is at 2am to 7 am time, maybe because at that time network is at off peak periods. Anyway, not only bittorent is affected by this, a lot of streaming video sites have even been hit by TMnutter (enforced early this year), except for Youtube and Metacafe. Easiest workaround for this streaming video is by using a proxy programs.But for Bittorents, from what i gather, people in Klang Valley have especially been hit hard. Maybe because they’re throttling according to places where congestion and bandwidth is most important. They did this by examining headers sent when Bittorent connection tries to find trackers, and blocks them.
Some people have tried to bypass this by a few methods, either by VPN or using proxies/header modifiers or even using weird Bittorent clients (i meant weird because the software is in Chinese). So today i will give you a modified version of Bitcomet 0.64. It has been tweaked so users will get back the speeds like last time. I’m currently on 1MB connection, so the highest speed i get for normal active torrent can reach up to 190kbps. Originally it was uploaded on local malaysian forum (cant remember, but credits to him), but since the original is unstable, i have made some adjustments to it to improve stablility. This version has been tested on few computers, not so much problems. It has been tweaked to maximise downloads only, so if you want to seed , you have to use other bittorent clients (eg utorrent).
But it should be noted that no more than 3 torrent is downloading at the same time on this Bitcomet 0.64 because more than that, it has high probability to crash. On some computers, it will take a lot of resources until windows become sluggish. In case it becomes sluggish, you can try adjust at preferences>connection, maximum connection per task and connection to keep per task. Try using lower value and test it. All computers tested are on Windows XP, so i dont know about Vista. Vista sucks anyway (at this time).
For registered torrent on Private trackers, sad to say , most of them dont accept connection coming from Bitcomet, but you can try and see if it works. So the speeds will still suck because you have to use other clients. I used utorrent for this and it takes days to download a 700mb movies. For torrents on public tracker, you can use this modified Bitcomet you it to your hearts content.

i read through your post and downloaded that bittorent client. i followed your instruction. first i thought you might be bluffing when you say use this bitcomet can bypass the throttled speed because i get the same normal slow speed after using it. turn out, the movie i downloading dont have a lot of seeds. i try again and download more popular torrent, it seems your bitcomet works. i get maximum speed now, im happy now, thanks to you.
